Those twelve spaces were taken by sponsors. We would have let open source projects have free booth space if there'd been any. But there isn't. We've done this in the past--Drupal, for example, had a free booth at the US OSCON in August. I'm staying in Amsterdam the Friday after EuroOSCON.
