It's not going to be an easy thing and it's nice for me to play arm-chair politician from California. On the other hand, I do believe that getting Flock out there will push blogging into the hands of people who so far have found it hard to express themselves publicly because of censorship and the like. As long as we continue working on tools to break down the walls of repression I just can't imagine that at some point it won't be economically feasible for China to continue doing what it's doing. In terms of money, well... I hear that distribution to 6 million Chinese bloggers would do our cause a great deal of good. Now to find the right provider... Yeah, I get your point. How will "proponents of democracy... breathe a sigh of satisfaction" because of Flock or Bokee? The Chinese government has been extremely effective in controlling the internet up to now, with laws that make posting subversive comments illegal and with allegedly more than 40,000 "Golden Shield" officials monitoring and censoring the internet in China. It sounds great, but show me the money... or the rights in this case... or are we really talking about money... cause then show me the money, but don't call it civil liberties.
