I added you to my RSS feed only three weeks before you went public with the split, so for me the whole scenario felt like being colleagues in an office, and I kept finding stuff I wasn't meant to see. Except I was meant to see it.

I quickly grasped that you guys weren't trying to be exhibitionists, and I wasn't being invited to be a voyeur, either. I feel you and Tara both walked your talk in a really courageous way, and you continue to do. I'm not surprised you might want to do things differently next time around :-) Bernice's article was a wonderful piece of journalism.

I'll pitch in with Alex. Your relative silence was a little perturbing. That said, I totally get it.

And, like Alex, I don't judge. I've been where you are and understand.

Personally, I value the (geographically distant) mateship we have and look to you professionally as an inspirer and leader for us all.

Bernice's article was very raw, very confronting, and on reflection totally amazing and worth it.

As an aside, I can't wait to catch up in Perth in November. Drinks on me.

Thanks for this, Chris. FWIW, I still think the sun shines out of your ass. ;)

I'm glad Bernice captured that time. It was the best of times...etc etc.

Chris,
I've remarked a number of times how one of the most uncomfortable parts of the last several months was your general radio silence compared to Tara's continuing openness. Knowing both of you, I certainly understand and judge neither of you.

However, I want to let you know that I appreciate that this piece was able to elicit some more personal/philosophical commentary here, contrast to the technical/philosophical stuff you've journaled over the bulk of 2008.

Either way, the piece in SFMag was remarkable. Also remarkable is your continuing impact on my, and many others, ways of looking at the world. Online and off.
