When I suggested that Steve Jobs hates the App Store, I wanted to shift the debate away from the enmity some developers harbor for the App Store and instead, reconsider the consequences of its existence — i.e. what are we not working on by funneling so much time and energy into App Store apps?
Turns out the post hit a nerve — and ended up being included in episode #186 of the Carnival of the Mobilists.
Not familiar with the Carnival? Neither was I until someone suggested that I submit my post to them! The submission process is dead simple (send an email), and the concept is that the “carnival” changes “host” every week, and features a collection of interesting or thought provoking entries dedicated to a topic or theme — in the case of the “Carnival of the Mobilists”, the topic is, not surprisingly, mobile.
I find this model very compelling, and if you’re interested in playing host for a week, they’re looking for a few good volunteers!
