Customize the WordPress posting interface

This is kind of a hack (and only works in the upcoming 2.0.5 version) but I’m happy finally to have some control over the posting controls in WordPress. If you want the same control, grab Clutter-free, by Mark Jaquith.

Camino 1.1a1 released

I’ve been grabbing Camino nightlies with mixed results lately but if you’re willing to forego a little stability, grab the Camino 1.1a1 (release notes) — with a few new features you’ll like.

The Filter: a lesser SoundFlavor

Hot on the heals of SoundFlavor’s release is The Filter, again, oddly PC-only. It supposedly “creates perfect playlists” and fills your “USB device”. Unlike SoundFlavor, however, it relies on user behavior like Last.fm to generate recommendations. Via Wishingline.

Awesome changes coming to Backpack

Pretty basic, but pretty awesome too: check out the new reorder-anything demo for a preview of what’s to come for 37Signals’ Backpack app.

Digg’s got a new blog… and no comments

Digg has redesigned its blog and moved to WordPress but for some reason (popularity I presume) aren’t accepting comments. Another “heartbeat” blog — just active enough to let you know that they’re not dead. Via Digg.

Real has a Reader?

File this under “who knew?” or “really stupid suggestion” from someone atop Real, but apparently, working in collaboration with Feedster, they’ve thrown together a PC-only RSS reader called RealTime. It looks like they want to get into MediaRSS and the like, and why they didn’t start there, well, is anyone’s guess.

Skype founder blogs about taking on TV

Janus Friis has got himself a blog on which he’s discussing the Venice Project — something to do with the future of TV. If Kazaa and Skype are any indication, this might just be something to watch (pun intended).

Via Digg.

Songbird party this Friday

If you don’t have plans already, check out the Songbird party this Friday at the Songbird Nest as they near their 0.2 release (plans for 0.3 are already underway!).

Two new WordPress.com themes

I’ve used K2 here on FactoryCity for some time so it’s cool to see it available on WordPress.com finally. Along with that, check out Sleepless, Brian “Like it Matters” Oberchurch’s choice.
