(And yes, you can add these events to your calendar easily.)

Oh, and cool sidenote, Senator John Edwards will be keynoting Gnomedex. Guess if you can’t get the inventor of the internets, you can at least get a running mate.

  1. “And yes, you can add these events to your calendar easily”

Why does not a simple one-click work ?

  2. Chris,I just click on the link. Thats all.

I am pretty sure thats its about microformats, so out of curosity I want to import into outlook, which is the default client on my LT. It pops up the window for ih-events.ics and then when I say open, I get the err msg outlook failed to open events.ics or something like this.

Now, I am not a technical person in terms of understanding everthing. I am just an curious – early adopter, who belives when he reads “add these events to your calendar” it should be a simple one click process.

I will later check if this works, when outlook client is opened.

  3. Ok with outlook opened ..this gets a little over my head now :)-

“This error can appear if you have attempted to save a recurring Lunar appointment in iCalendar format.
To avoid this error, set the appointment option to Gregorian instead of Lunar.”

  4. Hmm. This is helpful information. I’ll pass this on to my “support team” and see if I can figure it out! 🙂

  5. Old version of Outlook maybe??

From a few sources, there are claims that:
MS Outlook 2000 really sucks with ical support.
MS Outlook 2003 has some support for ical v 2.0 (rfc2445), but does not support any/many recurring events.
MS Outlook 2000, and 2003 do not support “subscription to ical calendars” (meaning, you download and import, but it is your job to manually download and import each time.)
MS Outllok 2003 has poor/no support for VTIMEZONE from rfc2445. citation (http://www.macosxhints.com/article.php?story=20050504224709452) though it appears part of this problem has to do with many VTIMEZONEs use recurring events for accurate DST resolution and GMT offsets based on selected date, and workarounds are clunky at best.)
    Some people have sought work-arounds.
