Too close for comfort?

Factorcity

Was reading through Earplug #65 and noticed that one of the music labels has a name that sounds… very familiar. While I’m sure there’s no intentional overlap, it was nevertheless somewhat alarming to see something so close to the name I use everywhere show up randomly.

Something about that word pairing must be artful though, since the FactoryCity dot com address is owned by a Canadian art colective. Go figure.

  1. why don’t you get that shit trademarked? I suspect it would be difficult to do and knowing you—you probably have tried. It’s got such caché for a business name. I don’t know of any designers in your line that have coined it yet, so it might not be a conflict of interest unless you plan on expanding into the music industry.

  2. Very bizarre. Yesterday (when you posted this) I learned that someone else is using the name I’ve used for my weblog for 9+ years: cheesebikini.

Never did I dream that another human being would voluntarily choose that name! And of course, the person is another Burner:

She calls herself that on the playa…

    It’s a small playa.
