LaCie Huby and the return of industrial design

LaCie Huby

I’ve been seeing an uptick in industrial design in computer and internet hardware lately… from this LaCie Huby device (via) to Chumby to Nabaztag to Meraki’s Mini.

So what else have you found in the wild that’s worth looking at this holiday season that’s really functional but reeks of craft as well?

  1. Now if those cords were just retractable and longer (for movement purposes), I won’t EVER have to worry about getting my laptop cords tangled up….

  2. Yeah, those cords are too short, i’d end up stuck in a cluster of tangled devices instead of tangled cords. And I want to power my laptop and connect to my external monitor thru it too. As a stretch goal, it should have a big heavy machined-aluminium rotary knob… for… twiddling… for some reason…
