Regarding “Lifestreaming in Obamaland”
You wouldn’t know it from the way our culture worships our glamorous leaders, but no, the President is not to be viewed as superhuman. That is what kings are for.
Back in the age of monarchs, the royal blood line was thought of as coming from the gods/God (and in some cases they were considered the gods). Think divine right of kings.
The whole point of the American presidency is to remove that false deification. We are to elect a peer from among us to lead for a limited time. And s/he does not pass this role down to their children or inherit it from their family line. They are definitively not superhuman.
Sure we expect them to carry an Herculean burden, but it is a service to the rest of us to do so, not a result of their abnormal powers.
So, yes, if life-casting starts reorienting our view of the President so that we recognize the office holder as a normal citizen—a peer—that is a good thing.
