Whoa. Whoa. Someone’s been effin’ with my Flickr…! And hmm… do I like it (maybe you care, but probably not)? But, well… I dunno.
It’s bright, ok…
It’s seemingly shinier…
It’s not quite black MacBook sexiness…
It actually seems more complicated. It seems less explorable… I mean, it’s… neat.
I guess I’m kind of dumbfounded. Maybe it will grow on me. I don’t like the two columns of photos with sets on the right… I mean, consider my uploads next to Thomas Hawk’s:
I dunno — it just doesn’t seem as pretty as the previous single column.
Am I wrong? Who’s with me on this? Hmm?
You’ve got 148 unread messenges..?
I’m not sure about everything, either. I like lots of it, like the menu on people that you show here ^, and the more navigatable(?) top-menu, and the search bar on the front page. But I don’t like borderless images and the sets on the right side. The two columns? I don’t know what I think about that yet.
I have the same opinion regarding the single and double column. It shows more photos this way, alright, but also seems a bit cluttered, especially when the photos come in different formats or cover very different topics.
p.s.: removing the borders is a good idea, IMHO. it gives more freedom in creating own borders, especially uneven ones. this used to be a problem in the past. for example, now you can upload a round or oval image.
Offbeat from the context but hey..thanks for starting the Bar “camp fire” 🙂

I’m pretty similar. I like the new navigation at the top and the drop down boxes. Just not sure why they needed to put the sets on the right instead of the left. It made more sense to me how it was before.
I love the borderless photos. It makes them feel so much more elegant. I’m not sure why I have an adversion to borders. Certainly someone could still build a border in a photo app, but I just feel like they look so much cleaner borderless. More like a contemporary art museum.
Things I like about the new Flickr:
– Borderless photos
– Person Menu
Things I don’t like about the new Flickr:
– Two column photos with sets, three column photos without (seems too busy)
– Difficult to search through tags (I find myself just typing in http://flickr.com/photos/tags/%5Btag%5D)
– The tag cloud for users’ photos taking up the whole page
– Sets on the right
So far I’m missing the beta version, but it could just be adjustment pains…
I’m with you on the dual columns. I really liked the idea of my “feed” of photos. Two columns doesn’t position it that way to me.
